longbox_graveyard @doktorandy No end of the vanilla out there, either. Batwoman was one of the few contemporary books I followed. Back to 1978 for me!

doktorandy I'm not a DC reader or follower, but I only ever heard glowing reviews of that book. It's sad.

longbox_graveyard @doktorandy It can be a dense read -- even the starting point collection in "Elegy" takes a time or two to get it all -- but the book has rich characterization and some strong relationships. The villains are creepy and the way the character's origin is grounded in her discharge from the military owing to her sexuality is very well handled. Recommended.

fancydresscapades Oh wow, I have not been keeping up with DC news, I can't believe it Batwoman was right up there as one of my favourites! There was some dark themes in there but the mix of character work and plot movement was about perfect. I'm disappointed.
